A word about KOA: they run a tight ship. I have been fairly impressed by each of the KOAs
where we've stayed. They're clean, they offer all the usual amenities, and they're kid-friendly.
We have never had a bad experience at a KOA.
After we arrive and hook up, we're off to the pool. Dawson, Matthew and our niece Madison
are overjoyed. My mom even suits up and joins us in the pool... her first time swimming in
over 40 years! Afterward, Andra and my mom tend to the laundry, while I entertain the kids
with miniature golf. Later we unhook my mom's car and go into town for groceries and supplies
at -- you guessed it -- the Wal-Mart Super Center! On our way back, a severe thunderstorm
starts moving in and my plans to cook pork chops on the portable grill is nixed due to high winds...
so we go with Plan B instead and use the microwave. Andra creates a masterpiece -- they're delicious.
The weather remains stormy as we go to bed, and I turn on the weather radio alarm just in case.
Today's tidbits:
Tomorrow we're going to do some sightseeing, then we plan to go to a Colorado Springs
Sky Sox minor league baseball game at 7:05pm.
Today's photos:
It was a beautiful morning on the high prairie. We got our pancakes and sausage, and broke
camp around 9:45. Driving west on I-70, the landscape becomes so lonely it's eerie.
By 2:30 we are in Colorado Springs at the KOA.
